Before there was a match, a pregnancy, and a baby, there was Mike and Alex: two hopeful intended parents imagining what their future family might look like.

Mike is a scientist dedicated to developing life-saving pharmaceuticals and Alex is a creative professional and storyteller. They had already built a life filled with love, wine tastings, and adventures alongside their beloved dog, Finn.

Like many intended parents exploring surrogacy, their path to parenthood required trust in a process—and in people they had not yet met. Mike and Alex knew that this journey was a collaborative process, but they didn’t know yet just who they would be collaborating with.

That’s Where We (And Amanda!) Come In

We knew that alignment had arrived in the form of Amanda.

Amanda is a doula who understands pregnancy and birth not only professionally, but personally. Having faced her own struggles with infertility while building her family (yes, successful surrogates can face infertility, too!), she had deep empathy for parents longing for a child. Her motivation to become a gestational surrogate came from a powerful place: the desire to give another family the opportunity she knew firsthand could feel uncertain or out of reach.

While social media often highlights the joyful milestones, the reality of ethical surrogacy includes careful preparation designed to protect everyone involved.

Before moving forward together, Mike, Alex, and Amanda completed:

Amanda fulfilled the extraordinary role she chose by helping create a family while expanding her own sense of purpose and connection.
